Disordered Eating Support for Young People | Food & Me Hillingdon
Why Early Disordered Eating Support Matters
Disordered eating can affect anyone, regardless of age, culture, background or appearance, and it often goes unrecognised.
Food & Me Hillingdon aims to change that. The project takes a culturally sensitive approach to disordered eating, recognising how identity and lived experience shape the way we relate to food and our bodies. Our goal is to open up honest conversations, reduce stigma and help young people feel seen, supported and heard.
What the Project Involves:
At the core of Food & Me Hillingdon is a social media awareness campaign, encouraging early conversations and highlighting the signs of disordered eating. We’re also working directly with schools, colleges and youth organisations in Hillingdon to deliver free educational sessions for young people.
Each session is led by experienced practitioners and covers topics such as:
-
Understanding disordered eating
-
Food, identity and culture
-
Routine, structure and emotional wellbeing
-
Body image and self-esteem
These sessions are designed to be inclusive, empowering and provide early disordered eating support in safe, familiar spaces.

Support Without Stigma
By increasing awareness and access to disordered eating support, we aim to help young people feel understood and equipped to seek help early.
You don’t need a diagnosis to ask for help. If you’re concerned about your relationship with food, or you’re supporting someone else, we’re signposting to STRIDES, Hillingdon’s dedicated disordered eating support service.
