As part of the Unity Rise project, funded by Trust for London’s Racial Justice Fund, CB Plus is spotlighting Black-led businesses in Barnet who are driving community empowerment through innovation. One such business is Sowing Stitches, a London-based social enterprise merging craftsmanship, sustainability and social impact.

Sowing Stitches is a people-centred social enterprise that trains and mentors people through a community experience of inclusion and belonging, equipping them with the skills and confidence to become self-sustaining through fashion and design.
Crafting Skills, Building Futures
Through its flagship programme, the Community Tailoring Business School, Sowing Stitches offers hands-on training in sewing, crafts design and creative entrepreneurship. Participants learn the practical skills needed to build sustainable incomes, whether through tailoring services, fashion products or small business ventures.
Every creation tells a story of resilience, culture and craftsmanship, from innovative fabric manipulation to bespoke garments made with pride.
