The Unity Rise project is dedicated to empowering and amplifying Black-led businesses in Barnet. As part of this mission, we’re shining a spotlight on local entrepreneurs who are breaking barriers and building brands that inspire. One of those trailblazers is Aisha Abubakar, founder of Isha’s Timeless, a fashion brand that blends cultural heritage with modern elegance.
From Passion to Premium Fashion
Aisha’s journey began in 2020 during the challenges of the COVID-19 lockdown. What started as a personal passion for style and colour, deeply rooted in her Nigerian heritage and influenced by cultural traditions such as the Durbar, soon evolved into a brand that celebrates individuality and sophistication.
Drawing inspiration from the vibrant fabrics and aesthetics of African fashion, Aisha launched Isha’s Timeless with a clear vision: to create pieces that combine authenticity with contemporary appeal. Her early designs showcased bold Ankara prints, but as the brand grew, she adapted to reach a wider audience while preserving the essence of African elegance.
Building a Brand Against the Odds
Isha’s Timeless quickly made an impression through pop-up experiences across London, including a debut at Brent Cross Shopping Centre. These events were more than retail; they became cultural moments that celebrated creativity and identity.
The road to success hasn’t been easy. Like many Black-owned businesses, Aisha faced several challenges:
- The high costs of UK-based production for premium garments.
- Rising rents and expensive pop-up opportunities, sometimes costing £10,000 a month.
- The need to balance cultural authenticity with global fashion trends.
Despite these obstacles, Aisha stayed committed to quality and innovation. She invested in UK production, collaborated with a consultant who has worked with brands like Zara and Burberry, and incorporated premium details such as Swarovski embellishments and crystal beadwork.

A Global Vision
Today, Isha’s Timeless is positioned as a high-end fashion brand with international reach. The collection is available on the brand’s own website (www.ishastimeless.co.uk) and through global platforms like Wolf & Badger, LYST and Rackhams opening doors beyond the UK to International global markets. Recognised for its refined presentation, the brand has been described as having timeless enduring pieces that transcend seasons, occasions and trends becoming cherished pieces for year to come. Isha’s Timeless will feature in Brent Cross’s premium marketing event this October 2025, an exciting moment that reflects Aisha’s determination and creativity.
Why This Story Matters
Unity Rise was created to support businesses like Isha’s Timeless. Black-led businesses bring innovation and cultural richness to our community, yet often face barriers to visibility and growth. Through initiatives such as the Black Business Fair at Brent Cross, Unity Rise is creating opportunities for connection, exposure and long-term success.
For Aisha the Simplicity of Feminine Ageless Elegancethat transcends an appearance reflecting the true beauty in every mind is what fashion is to us.
