Safeguarding Adults Week 2025 is now here, and this year’s theme, Act Before Abuse, focuses on the importance of prevention. Safeguarding is a key part of our work at CB Plus. We want adults across our communities to feel safe and supported, and to know who to contact if something feels wrong.

Today, we are pleased to share our updated Safeguarding Training Video. It has been created to help people recognise the signs of abuse, understand what safeguarding looks like in real life and feel confident taking action when they have a concern.

Why we took a new approach

We wanted to refresh our safeguarding training so it feels clearer, more human and easier to follow. The new video has a more relatable tone, with everyday examples that help people understand what safeguarding means in practice. It also offers clearer explanations of key concepts, a stronger focus on prevention and early action and simple guidance on recognising, responding to and reporting concerns.
We aimed to create a resource that feels approachable and reassuring. Whether someone is a volunteer, a neighbour, a community member or a frontline worker, safeguarding information should be easy to understand and easy to act on. Safeguarding belongs to all of us, and accessible information is a vital part of that.

Improving accessibility with translated versions

We work with many diverse communities in Barnet, Brent and the wider London area. We know that English is not the first language for many residents, and safeguarding information needs to be accessible to everyone.

We are currently producing translated versions of the training video. These include Hindi, Polish and Farsi, with more languages to follow. We aim to ensure that every adult can access clear safeguarding guidance and knows how to get help when needed. No one should be excluded from important information because of language barriers.

Safeguarding is about prevention

Act Before Abuse highlights the importance of creating cultures where safety is prioritised. Prevention involves noticing when something feels wrong, listening when someone reaches out, understanding signs of harm or neglect, supporting adults who may be isolated or at risk and taking early action before concerns escalate.

Prevention does not need to feel complicated. It starts with awareness, confidence and clear guidance. The updated training video has been made with these principles in mind.

The full video is now available on our YouTube channel. You can view it below, here:

We encourage organisations, carers, volunteers, community groups, and residents to share the video widely. The more people who understand safeguarding, the more we can work together to prevent abuse from happening in the first place.

You may also have seen our posts across social media this week, and we would greatly appreciate you sharing these with your networks.

Thank you for supporting Safeguarding Adults Week!

As we mark Safeguarding Adults Week 2025, we want to thank everyone who plays a part in keeping our communities safe. This includes friends who look out for one another, neighbours who take the time to check in, volunteers who offer support, and the professionals who work directly with adults who may be at risk.

Together we can act before abuse, raise awareness and help ensure that every adult feels respected, valued and safe.

If you are worried about an adult or would like safeguarding advice, please get in touch. You can contact us directly, reach your local council safeguarding team, or speak to emergency services if someone is in immediate danger.

In Barnet, adults at risk can be referred to the Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub, also known as MASH. You can access the referral link here.

At CB Plus, we take safeguarding seriously in every part of our organisation. If you would like to raise a safeguarding concern or speak with us directly, you can email safeguarding@cbplus.org.uk or call 0208 364 8400.

If someone is in immediate danger, please call 999.
