Supporting Frontline Suicide Prevention Staff Across London

Suicide is a complex and devastating issue. Every life lost leaves a ripple effect across families, friends, workplaces, and entire communities. The emotional toll is especially heavy for those working on the frontline, who often face burnout, isolation, and limited support.

The Stay Project is here to change that.

This seven-year, city-wide initiative strengthens the resilience and wellbeing of London’s suicide prevention workforce. We bring together expert partners to offer practical training, reflective spaces, and long-term support. Our mission is simple: to sustain the people saving lives.

Why We Exist

The impact of suicide is far-reaching. For every life lost, up to 135 people are affected, from families and friends to schools, workplaces, and entire communities.

Suicide is complex, and risk is shaped by wider social injustice. Racism, discrimination, and inequality can increase vulnerability, especially for marginalised groups.

The Stay Project supports the people behind the response: the frontline staff and volunteers working in suicide prevention. Through trauma-informed training, reflective spaces, and wellbeing support, we help build resilience, confidence, and connection in this vital work.

Funded by City Bridge Foundation, The Stay Project supports suicide prevention staff across all 32 London boroughs.

Who It’s For

We support staff, volunteers, and organisations working directly with individuals who:

  • Are at risk of suicide
  • Are experiencing suicidal thoughts
  • Have been affected by suicide loss

Whether you’re based in healthcare, education, community support, or crisis response – we’re here for you.

Where We Work

The Stay Project will operate across all 32 London boroughs over the course of seven years, ensuring support reaches every corner of the city. In our first year, we are focusing on Barnet, Brent, and Enfield, boroughs where we already have strong partnerships and deep community connections.

This targeted rollout allows us to build a solid foundation, trial our approach, and tailor support to meet local needs.
