At CB Plus, we’re thrilled to announce two significant milestones in our journey to becoming a more inclusive and supportive workplace. We’ve achieved Level 2 Disability Confident Employer status and signed the Mental Health at Work Commitment. These achievements reflect our dedication to fostering an environment where every employee feels valued, supported, and empowered to thrive.

What Does Being a Disability Confident Employer Mean?

The Disability Confident scheme, launched by the UK government, encourages employers to recruit and retain individuals with disabilities and long-term health conditions. With nearly 19% of the UK population identifying as disabled, this initiative plays a critical role in addressing the disability employment gap.

As a Level 2 Disability Confident Employer we are committed to:

  • Challenging negative attitudes and assumptions about disability.
  • Removing barriers to employment for disabled individuals.
  • Promoting equal opportunities for all.
  • Supporting employees with tailored adjustments and inclusive practices.

These steps ensure we are not only attracting diverse talent but also providing an environment where everyone can reach their full potential.

Mental Health at Work Commitment: Setting the Standard for Employee Wellbeing

Mental health is a priority for us. To deepen our commitment, we’ve signed the Mental Health at Work Commitment, a framework developed by Mind, which outlines six standards proven to create a mentally healthy workplace:

  1. Prioritise mental health through a systematic programme of activities.
  2. Design work and organisational culture to proactively support positive mental health outcomes.
  3. Promote an open culture where employees feel safe discussing mental health.
  4. Increase organisational confidence and capability in handling mental health challenges.
  5. Provide tools and support to help employees manage mental health effectively.
  6. Increase transparency and accountability by monitoring and reporting on progress.

These standards guide us in creating a workplace culture where conversations about mental health are encouraged and stigma is challenged.

Looking Ahead

We are proud of the strides we’ve made, but our journey doesn’t stop here. We’re committed to continuously improving our practices to ensure that CB Plus remains an inclusive and supportive workplace.

Keep an eye out for an exclusive interview with Sian Avery, our Operations Manager, where she’ll delve deeper into these initiatives and share insights into our plans for the future.
