About the CB Plus Racial Justice Fund
The CB Plus Racial Justice Fund is a transformative initiative funded by Trust for London to support Black businesses in Barnet. Over the next two years, CB Plus will research the barriers faced by local Black entrepreneurs and social enterprises, and lead a campaign to boost investment and long-term support for these businesses. By working with key stakeholders, we aim to shift policies and practices that influence the economic empowerment and sustainability of Black-led businesses in our community.
Partnership and Influence:
To create lasting change, CB Plus is building cross-sector partnerships with local authorities, businesses, and policymakers. Our goal is to influence the design, commissioning, and delivery of services that directly impact Black businesses. By fostering collaboration and advocating for policy shifts, we are working to ensure that decision-makers prioritise the economic empowerment and sustainability of Black-led enterprises in Barnet.
Research Findings and Next Steps
Middlesex University has completed its research on the challenges faced by Black business people in Barnet, and the findings were shared with our Advisory Group, consisting of local Black entrepreneurs. The group identified key priorities, such as analysing business support schemes in Barnet, creating stronger connections with investors and banks, and launching a Barnet Black Business newsletter and network to keep the community informed and connected. We are now taking these recommendations forward and will provide updates on progress and next steps soon.
