Join the conversations during this Eating Disorder Week.
Welcome to the #FoodAndMeMovement, a transformative initiative launching during Eating Disorder Week. Our Young People Thrive team’s mission is to:
- Break down stigma
- Challenge misconceptions
- Create a supportive space for diverse narratives around disordered eating.
Zoe Kattah, Head of Young People Thrive, says: “We look forward to participating in EDAW 2024 and launching our Food & Me Social Movement Campaign. Our Food & Me programme has been running webinars recently with ORRI, and we are delighted to build on this and give our audience more from our social movement campaign. Many people in our communities struggle with their relationship with food. So please join the campaign, get informed, and learn about services that can help you.”
Throughout the week, we’ll explore the themes of our movement, dedicating each day to shedding light on different aspects:
Daily Themes:
- Debunking ED Myths
- Eating Disorders and the LGBTQ+ Community
- Eating Disorders and Culture
- What Carers/Communities Can Look Out For
While our primary focus is on these themes, we acknowledge that Eating Disorder Week’s main theme this year is AFRID (Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder).
To support those seeking information on AFRID, we’ll be signposting to organisations offering valuable resources:
Organisations with Resources on AFRID:
