What is LYRA

Brent Partnership Local Youth Resource & Advice Service (LYRA) is a new community-based mental health and wellbeing service for children and young people in Brent. LYRA provides early support for mild-to-moderate mental health challenges before issues escalate.

Brent Young People Thrive (BYPT) is proud to be part of this service, which is delivered through a collaborative partnership with key local organisations, including CNWL CAMHS, Anna Freud Centre, and Brent Centre for Young People.

Ways We Can Support You

1. Peer Support Circles

  • Facilitate safe, supervised discussions about mental health, school stress, and bullying

  • Encourage social connection and shared experiences

  • Provide guidance for parents and links to local wellbeing resources

2. Mentoring Support

  • 1:1 or small group mentoring focused on emotional regulation, behaviour, and personal goals

  • Deliver support in local community or outdoor settings

  • Help young people achieve practical outcomes and build confidence

3. Building Resilience & Confidence

  • Run activities to boost self-esteem and promote positive self-talk

  • Help young people identify strengths and achievements

  • Develop social and peer skills

Who Can Use LYRA

LYRA supports children and young people aged 5–18, and up to 25 for those with SEND, experiencing mild to moderate mental health challenges, including:

  • Anxiety or stress
  • Low mood or depression
  • School or social pressures
  • Peer relationship difficulties

Not suitable for:

  • Severe mental health crises or urgent specialist care needs
  • Self-harm or suicidal crises (please contact 999 or local crisis services)

How to Access LYRA

All referrals to LYRA are made through CNWL’s Single Point of Access (SPA):

Who can make a referral: Anyone can refer, including GPs, schools, colleges, families, or professionals. Self-referrals are also welcome.

For professionals: You can contact SPA for advice about a child or young person’s emotional wellbeing, even if you are not making a referral.
