As part of the Unity Rise project, funded by Trust for London’s Racial Justice Fund, CB Plus is spotlighting Black-led businesses in Barnet who are improving lives, strengthening communities and driving social change. This feature highlights the inspiring journey of GN122 Health Care, led by Director Kemi Moronfolu, a committed entrepreneur shaping better futures through compassionate care and youth empowerment.

A Journey Rooted in Resilience and Purpose

Kemi’s professional path has been shaped by curiosity, adaptability, and a desire to make a difference. With an academic background in Philosophy, she transitioned into technology and project management before founding her first business, inspired by her own childcare challenges as a working parent.

What began as a nanny agency soon expanded to a recruitment service, followed by cleaning and childcare training. Sixteen years later, this drive to solve real community needs has evolved into GN122 Health Care, a registered care provider delivering vital support to children, older adults and families.

Her journey reflects determination in the face of inequalities that many Black women in business encounter, from limited access to funding to biased assumptions about leadership and ownership. Yet Kemi continues to transform challenge into progress.

Compassionate Care and Support

GN122 Health Care offers home care services and high-quality healthcare training, working with both in-house staff and those from wider agencies. Training includes vital skills such as first aid, dementia awareness and manual handling, helping build a compassionate and competent care workforce.

Looking ahead, Kemi and the team are developing plans for a culturally conscious daycare centre that responds to the wellbeing needs of African and Caribbean elders and improves awareness of underused services within the community.

Opportunities for the Next Generation

Alongside her business responsibilities, Kemi is deeply passionate about empowering young people. For the past five years, she has co-led a free summer camp for children and teenagers, combining personal development activities with faith-based learning.

Her belief is simple. People are not born to fail. With guidance and encouragement, young people can develop confidence, character and a strong sense of identity. These camps support that growth while strengthening community belonging.

Creating Lasting Community Impact

GN122 Health Care reflects the strength that emerges when cultural heritage, practical entrepreneurship and community leadership come together. Kemi’s ongoing mission is to leave a legacy of care, dignity and positive transformation.

Through Unity Rise, we are proud to spotlight GN122 Health Care as a Black-led business that is delivering vital services, empowering young people and opening doors for others to follow.
