ND’s Sip n’ Paint – Blood Donation and Living Kidney

CB Plus, in collaboration with Neurodiversity, hosted a special event at M’nuchah in London on Tuesday, 28 February 2023. The event aimed to increase awareness of blood and organ donation within Black communities and tackle barriers to donation. Fifty people attended.

Stephanie Ozou and her team from ADHD Babes and Rosie Savitrie from Community Barnet moderated the event. The event included activities and panel speakers who shared inspiring stories and hoped for BAME in Blood and Organ Donation. The panel consisted of James Ojomo (NHS Organ Ambassador), Anita Wharton (Organ Ambassador advocate), Moji Alli (Sickle Cell Advocate), and Stephanie Rose (Sickle Cell advocate).

Inspiring Awareness

After the panel discussion, the Brent Health Matters team created and screened an “Organ Donation” movie. The movie aims to raise awareness about blood and organ donation and reduce the associated stigma.

Participants enjoyed the Sip n’ Paint activity, where they painted something valuable in their lives. This activity fostered interaction, self-expression and introduced donation through art.

Gathering for Impact

ND’s Sip n’ Paint event gathered diverse individuals to learn, share, and connect, inspiring attendees. Many expressed gratitude for the chance to explore the significance of blood and organ donation, especially within the Black community.

We aim for this event to motivate others to promote donation and raise awareness, breaking down barriers in their communities.
