Case Study: Online Wellbeing Programme – Powerful and Positive Impact on a Service User’s Life

Background

The Barnet Wellbeing Hub and the Link Worker Team offered new services for mental health support in Friern Barnet N11. A 44-year-old service user, who was diagnosed with general anxiety and depression, couldn’t find any community support for her mental health condition. She chose the Barnet Wellbeing Hub’s Online Wellbeing Programme as it was accessible from home.

Challenges

The service user was struggling with her mental health condition and felt the need to be more present for her two children. She had difficulty concentrating and found it painful to go out with her kids, which affected her mental health.

Solutions

The service user signed up for the Mood Boost webinar, a six-week program offered by the Barnet Wellbeing Hub’s Online Wellbeing Programme. The interactive and informative course helped her to learn tools that she could use to improve her mental health. The service user felt grateful for the content and strongly resonated with the tools, which she still uses to this day. The group interaction felt supportive, and the service user appreciated the polls and Q&A function.

Results

After participating in the Mood Boost webinar, the service user felt more hopeful and had manageable tools to help herself. She was able to push herself to go out with her children for a walk and coffee/cake on the weekends. Although it was difficult and painful, she felt that it was worth it. By late June 2018, the service user had recovered from depression, and the Mood Boost webinar had a powerful and positive impact on her life.

“These webinars gave me hope and manageable tools to help myself.”
