From Volunteer to Full-Time Role: CB Plus’s Impact on Young People
The Impact of the Kickstarter Scheme
Over the years, we have been delighted to welcome a number of Kickstarter to our team through the Kickstart Scheme. This initiative provided funding to create new jobs for individuals aged 16 to 24 at risk of long-term unemployment while on Universal Credit. One of our Kickstarter recently shared their journey with us. They expressed immense gratitude for the opportunity provided by CB Plus, which allowed them to gain valuable skills and confidence.
CB gave me an opportunity when no one else would, and I will be forever grateful.
Finding Support and Purpose
Reflecting on their time with CB Plus, our volunteer expressed profound gratitude for the welcoming environment and the chance to acquire new skills. They shared: “I honestly could not have done this without my amazing manager. He helped me so much during my time here. CB Plus gave me an opportunity when no one else would, and for that, I will be forever grateful.”
Transforming Lives Through Charity Work
Our volunteer is transitioning into a role as a Project Assistant at a charity. They will provide mentorship to young people in need and work on a project dedicated to assisting refugees. This new endeavour brings them great excitement and a sense of purpose. They said, “I am really excited about joining a charity and being able to make a positive impact on the lives of young people and refugees.”
A Thank You to CB Plus
Expressing gratitude towards the entire CB Plus team, our volunteer acknowledged the significant impact the organisation has had on their journey. They stated, “I want to say a massive thank you to all the team who have given the opportunity to young people on the Kickstart scheme. Giving them a chance to work for such an amazing Charity and for giving us a chance to showcase our skills and learn new things from you all. Also, a thank you to everyone for always checking in on me and guiding me when needed.”
Skills and Growth
In just five months, our volunteer has gained invaluable skills and experiences that have shaped their personal and professional development. They shared their pride in contributing mainly to the Barnet Befriending Service. “The skills and experience I have gained have been amazing, and I am so proud that I was able to contribute to the Barnet Befriending Service. I am confident the service will reach even greater heights!”
A Farewell and Best Wishes
As our volunteer bid farewell to CB Plus, they expressed deep appreciation for their colleagues, saying. “I wish you all the very best for the future. It was an absolute privilege working and getting to know you all. You are all amazing, and I couldn’t have wished to have worked with nicer and more hardworking colleagues.”
